Assessment Fees
Ward Psychological Corporation is a private-pay practice providing comprehensive psychological evaluations for children, adolescents, and adults.
Evaluation fees are discussed in advance so families understand the anticipated cost before testing begins.
One Psychologist. From Beginning to End
When you choose Dr. Ward for an evaluation, you work directly with Dr. Ward throughout the process.
He personally conducts the clinical interview and direct psychological testing, selects and interprets the assessment measures, integrates the findings, prepares the written report, and meets with you to review the results and recommendations.
Families are not passed between multiple evaluators during the assessment process.
Individualized Assessment
Not every concern requires the same amount of testing, and more testing is not automatically better.
Dr. Ward recommends the level of assessment needed to answer the clinical questions while avoiding unnecessary testing and expense.
Focused evaluations are available when the referral question is relatively straightforward. More comprehensive evaluations are available when families also want a broader understanding of cognitive abilities, attention, executive functioning, learning, memory, adaptive functioning, language, emotional functioning, or other factors that may be contributing to the concerns.
A More Comprehensive Approach When It Is Useful
When cognitive testing is clinically appropriate, Dr. Ward often obtains more information than the minimum number of subtests required to calculate an overall cognitive score.
Additional testing may help clarify areas such as:
Verbal reasoning
Visual-spatial abilities
Fluid reasoning
Working memory
Processing speed
Quantitative reasoning
Nonverbal abilities
Cognitive efficiency
The purpose is not to administer more tests simply for the sake of testing. Additional measures are used when they are likely to help explain how an individual thinks and learns or contribute to more useful recommendations.
Evaluation Fees
The fees below represent the typical cost of the most common evaluation services. If the referral question requires a substantially different scope of assessment, Dr. Ward will discuss the recommended testing and anticipated fee before additional services are provided.
Psychological Evaluations
Focused ADHD Diagnostic Evaluation — $1,950
Not every question about ADHD requires a full cognitive or psychological testing battery.
The Focused ADHD Diagnostic Evaluation is designed for children, adolescents, and adults when the primary question is relatively straightforward:
Does this individual meet diagnostic criteria for ADHD?
The evaluation focuses on determining whether ADHD symptoms are present, whether they are causing meaningful impairment, whether they occur across settings when applicable, and whether another condition may better explain the concerns.
The evaluation typically includes:
Detailed clinical interview
Developmental, medical, behavioral, and educational history as appropriate
Interview and behavioral observation of the child or adolescent when developmentally appropriate
Standardized ADHD rating measures
Parent and teacher measures for children and adolescents whenever reasonably available
Screening for common emotional, behavioral, developmental, and learning concerns that may resemble or occur alongside ADHD
Review of relevant school, medical, or previous assessment records
Clinical integration and diagnostic determination
Written diagnostic summary with findings and initial recommendations
Personalized feedback meeting with Dr. Ward
This evaluation does not routinely include comprehensive IQ testing, academic achievement testing, memory testing, or an extensive executive-function battery.
If concerns arise suggesting that broader testing would be helpful, Dr. Ward will discuss those options with you before additional testing is completed.
Comprehensive ADHD & Expanded Cognitive Evaluation — $3,750
This evaluation is appropriate when the question extends beyond simply determining whether ADHD is present.
It may be especially useful when there are concerns about cognitive strengths and weaknesses, working memory, processing speed, executive functioning, inconsistent performance, academic difficulties, or why an otherwise capable student is struggling.
Depending upon the referral question, the evaluation may examine:
Attention and concentration
Executive functioning
Cognitive abilities
Verbal and nonverbal reasoning
Visual-spatial abilities
Working memory
Processing speed
Learning and memory
Academic functioning when indicated
Emotional and behavioral functioning
Anxiety, depression, or other factors that may resemble or complicate ADHD
The evaluation includes:
Comprehensive clinical interview
Review of relevant records
Direct psychological testing
Standardized ADHD measures
Parent, teacher, or collateral information when appropriate
Expanded cognitive assessment
Additional measures selected according to the clinical questions
Scoring, interpretation, and integration of findings
Comprehensive written psychological report
Individualized recommendations
Personalized feedback meeting with Dr. Ward
One brief follow-up consultation for clarification of findings or recommendations
The goal is not simply to answer “Is this ADHD?” but to better understand how attention, executive functioning, cognition, learning, and emotional factors may be affecting everyday functioning.
Autism Diagnostic Evaluation — $3,850
The Autism Diagnostic Evaluation is designed for individuals when the primary question is whether the developmental and behavioral pattern is consistent with Autism Spectrum Disorder and there is not an immediate need for a broader cognitive, academic, or neurodevelopmental battery.
Dr. Ward has completed more than 250 ADOS-2 administrations across children, adolescents, and adults, including more than 100 completed under direct supervision during advanced autism-assessment training.
The evaluation typically includes:
Detailed developmental and clinical interview
Review of relevant developmental, medical, educational, and previous assessment records
Direct behavioral observation
Autism-specific assessment, including the ADOS-2 when clinically appropriate
Standardized measures of autism-related social and behavioral functioning
Assessment of adaptive functioning when appropriate
Screening for ADHD, anxiety, language, learning, emotional, and other concerns that may overlap with autism
Parent, teacher, or other collateral information when appropriate
Clinical integration and diagnostic determination
Comprehensive written report
Individualized recommendations
Personalized feedback meeting with Dr. Ward
One brief follow-up consultation for clarification of findings or recommendations
If information obtained during the evaluation suggests that broader cognitive, academic, language, memory, or other psychological testing would meaningfully improve the evaluation, Dr. Ward will discuss those options with the family before additional testing is completed.
Comprehensive Autism & Expanded Cognitive Evaluation — $4,750
A comprehensive autism evaluation at Ward Psychological Corporation is designed to answer more than whether an individual meets diagnostic criteria for Autism Spectrum Disorder.
The goal is to develop a broader understanding of how the individual communicates, thinks, learns, adapts, and functions in everyday life while identifying both areas of difficulty and meaningful strengths that can guide recommendations.
The evaluation typically includes:
Detailed developmental and clinical interview
Review of relevant medical, developmental, educational, and previous assessment records
Direct behavioral observation
Autism-specific assessment, including the ADOS-2 when clinically appropriate
Standardized measures of autism-related social and behavioral functioning
Adaptive functioning assessment
Expanded cognitive assessment
Emotional and behavioral assessment when appropriate
Attention and executive-function assessment when indicated
Language, learning, memory, or academic measures when clinically useful
Parent, teacher, or other collateral information when appropriate
Comprehensive integration and diagnostic formulation
Detailed written psychological report
Individualized recommendations
Personalized feedback meeting with Dr. Ward
One brief follow-up consultation for clarification of findings or recommendations
A More Comprehensive Approach to Cognitive Assessment
Dr. Ward believes psychological testing should provide families with as much clinically useful information as reasonably possible rather than simply the minimum number of scores needed to calculate an overall cognitive score.
For that reason, comprehensive evaluations frequently include additional cognitive subtests when they are likely to improve understanding of the individual.
Depending upon the measure used and the clinical questions being addressed, expanded testing may provide additional information regarding:
Verbal reasoning
Visual-spatial abilities
Fluid reasoning
Working memory
Auditory and visual working memory
Processing speed
Quantitative reasoning
Nonverbal abilities
Cognitive efficiency
The purpose is not to administer more tests simply for the sake of testing. Additional measures are used when they are likely to help explain how an individual thinks and learns or contribute to more useful recommendations.
Comprehensive Autism + ADHD & Expanded Cognitive Evaluation — $5,250
Autism and ADHD commonly overlap, and distinguishing between them can be difficult when an assessment focuses too narrowly on one diagnosis.
This evaluation is appropriate when there are significant questions about both autism and ADHD or when a family is uncertain whether social, behavioral, academic, emotional, or executive-functioning concerns are best explained by one condition, both conditions, or another factor.
Depending upon the referral question, the evaluation may examine:
Autism-related social communication and behavioral characteristics
Attention and concentration
Executive functioning
Cognitive abilities
Verbal and nonverbal reasoning
Working memory
Processing speed
Learning and memory
Language and communication
Adaptive functioning
Emotional and behavioral functioning
Academic abilities when indicated
Anxiety, learning disorders, language disorders, and other conditions that may overlap with autism or ADHD
The evaluation includes a comprehensive clinical and developmental interview, review of relevant records, direct psychological testing, autism-specific assessment when clinically appropriate, attention and executive-function assessment, expanded cognitive testing, appropriate rating measures, scoring and interpretation, a comprehensive written report, individualized recommendations, and a personalized feedback session.
One brief follow-up consultation for clarification of the findings or recommendations is also included.
Learning, Cognitive & Psychoeducational Evaluation — $4,750–$5,250
A learning and cognitive evaluation may be appropriate when there are questions about dyslexia or another learning disorder, academic underperformance, giftedness, cognitive strengths and weaknesses, processing speed, working memory, executive functioning, or why a student may be performing differently than expected.
Depending upon the referral question, the evaluation may examine:
General cognitive abilities
Verbal reasoning
Visual-spatial and nonverbal reasoning
Fluid reasoning
Working memory
Processing speed
Reading
Written language
Mathematics
Learning and memory
Attention and executive functioning
Emotional or behavioral factors affecting academic performance
This type of evaluation can be particularly useful for students who are bright or academically successful but appear to be working substantially harder than expected, performing inconsistently, or struggling in areas that are not reflected by their overall grades.
The final fee depends upon the scope of academic and psychological testing needed. The anticipated cost will be discussed before testing begins.
Comprehensive Diagnostic Clarification Evaluation — Starting at $4,500
Sometimes the most important question is not whether a particular diagnosis is present.
An individual or family may know that something is getting in the way but may be uncertain whether the underlying difficulty involves ADHD, autism, anxiety, learning, cognition, language, emotional functioning, personality, or a combination of factors.
A diagnostic clarification evaluation begins with the questions you are trying to answer rather than assuming a diagnosis in advance.
Testing is individualized and may examine multiple areas of functioning depending upon the presenting concerns.
Because the scope of these evaluations varies considerably, fees begin at $4,500. Dr. Ward will discuss the recommended scope and anticipated total cost before testing begins.
What Is Included in a Comprehensive Evaluation?
Unless otherwise discussed before testing begins, comprehensive evaluation fees include:
Initial clinical and/or developmental interview
Review of relevant records
Selection of an individualized assessment battery
Direct psychological testing personally conducted by Dr. Ward
Scoring and interpretation of assessment measures
Parent, teacher, and other collateral questionnaires when clinically appropriate
Integration of testing, interview findings, behavioral observations, records, and collateral information
Comprehensive written psychological report
Individualized recommendations
Personalized feedback session with Dr. Ward
One brief follow-up consultation for clarification of the findings or recommendations
One Psychologist. From Beginning to End
When you choose Dr. Ward for an evaluation, the psychologist you selected is the psychologist who personally conducts the evaluation.
Dr. Ward conducts the clinical interview and direct psychological testing, selects and interprets the assessment measures, integrates the findings, prepares the written report, and meets with you to explain the results and recommendations.
Families are not passed between multiple evaluators during the assessment process.
Comprehensive Without Unnecessary Cost
Comprehensive assessment does not have to mean unnecessary testing or unnecessary expense.
Ward Psychological Corporation uses modern digital assessment and scoring systems that allow Dr. Ward to administer, score, and integrate many commonly used psychological measures efficiently while maintaining direct involvement throughout the evaluation.
This efficiency allows the practice to devote more of the evaluation to clinically useful assessment, interpretation, feedback, and recommendations while keeping fees reasonable for a comprehensive private-pay service.
Testing is selected because it may help answer an important clinical question — not simply because a measure is available.
Assessment That Works Around Family Life
Psychological testing should not require families to unnecessarily miss work, school, or important activities.
When clinically and practically appropriate, Dr. Ward offers evening and weekend appointments and works with families to arrange interviews, testing, and feedback around demanding schedules.
Scheduling flexibility may be particularly helpful for parents with demanding work schedules, students with significant academic or extracurricular commitments, and families coordinating multiple caregivers.
Optional Support After the Evaluation
Receiving a report does not always answer every question that comes next.
Some families want additional assistance translating evaluation findings into school accommodations, treatment planning, or other practical decisions.
These services are optional and are not required as part of the evaluation.
IEP / 504 Consultation — $350 per hour
Dr. Ward can meet with parents before an IEP or 504 meeting to review evaluation findings, discuss recommendations, review relevant school documents, and help parents understand how the psychological findings may relate to educational needs.
This service does not constitute legal representation and does not guarantee eligibility, accommodations, services, or a particular school outcome.
IEP / 504 or School Meeting Attendance — $350 per hour
When appropriate, Dr. Ward may attend an IEP, 504, student-support, or other school meeting to explain evaluation findings and recommendations and answer questions related to the psychological assessment.
Virtual attendance is encouraged when practical.
In-person attendance may also be available depending upon location and scheduling. Any additional travel charges will be discussed in advance.
School / Teacher Consultation — $350 per hour
With appropriate authorization, Dr. Ward can consult with teachers, school psychologists, learning specialists, counselors, or other school personnel regarding evaluation findings and recommendations.
Treatment-Provider Consultation — $350 per hour
With appropriate authorization, Dr. Ward can consult with a therapist, psychiatrist, pediatrician, speech-language pathologist, occupational therapist, or other treating professional regarding evaluation findings and recommendations.
Additional Follow-Up Consultation — $325 per 50-minute session
Families sometimes develop new questions after they have had time to read the report, speak with a school or treatment provider, or begin implementing recommendations.
One brief follow-up consultation for clarification of the evaluation findings is included with comprehensive evaluations. Additional consultation is available when families would like more extensive assistance.
Private Pay and Insurance
Ward Psychological Corporation is a private-pay practice and does not bill insurance companies directly.
Insurance authorization is not required to begin an evaluation. This allows assessment decisions to be based upon the clinical questions being addressed rather than the requirements of an insurance authorization process.
Upon request, Ward Psychological Corporation can provide a superbill that may be submitted to an insurance company for possible out-of-network reimbursement.
Out-of-network benefits vary substantially between plans. Reimbursement is determined by the individual's insurance company and cannot be guaranteed.
Families who choose not to submit a superbill to an insurance company may also choose when they want evaluation information shared with schools, physicians, therapists, or other professionals, subject to applicable legal and ethical requirements regarding confidentiality and psychological records.
Good Faith Estimates
Under federal law, individuals who are uninsured or who are not using insurance to pay for services are generally entitled to receive a Good Faith Estimate of the expected cost of care.
Before beginning an evaluation, Ward Psychological Corporation will provide information regarding the anticipated scope and cost of the assessment.
If the clinical questions change substantially during the evaluation and additional testing is recommended, those recommendations and any additional fees will be discussed before additional services are provided.
Not Sure Which Evaluation You Need?
You do not need to know which diagnosis to request or which psychological tests should be administered before contacting the practice.
Dr. Ward offers a complimentary 15-minute consultation to discuss your concerns, answer initial questions, and help determine whether an evaluation may be useful and which level of assessment is most appropriate.
More testing is not automatically better. The goal is to conduct enough assessment to answer the questions that brought you to the evaluation while obtaining information that can meaningfully guide next steps.
