Therapy Fees

Ward Psychological Corporation is a private-pay practice. Fees are discussed in advance, so clients understand the expected cost of services before beginning treatment.

Individual Psychotherapy — $225 per 55-minute session

Individual psychotherapy is available for adults and adolescents when clinically appropriate.

Treatment is individualized based on the concerns bringing you to therapy and may address areas such as:

  • Anxiety and stress

  • Depression and low mood

  • Adjustment to major life changes

  • Trauma-related concerns

  • Relationship difficulties

  • Burnout

  • Perfectionism and self-criticism

  • Emotional regulation

  • Identity and life transitions

  • First responder and military-related concerns

  • Men's mental health

  • Parenting and family stress

Dr. Ward's approach is practical, collaborative, and grounded in evidence-based care. Therapy is designed to help clients better understand the patterns contributing to current difficulties while developing strategies that can be applied in everyday life.

Couples or Family Therapy — $275 per 55-minute session

Couples and family sessions may be appropriate when concerns involve communication, conflict, family stress, adjustment, parenting, or relationship difficulties.

The focus of treatment is determined collaboratively based on the needs of the individuals involved.

Longer sessions may occasionally be recommended when clinically appropriate. Any difference in fee will be discussed before the appointment.

Initial Consultation

Dr. Ward offers a complimentary 15-minute consultation for prospective clients who would like to briefly discuss their concerns, ask questions about his approach, and determine whether working together may be a good fit.

A consultation is not a therapy session and does not establish a psychologist-patient relationship.

Private Pay and Insurance

Ward Psychological Corporation does not bill insurance companies directly.

Upon request, a superbill can be provided that you may submit to your insurance company for possible out-of-network reimbursement.

Out-of-network reimbursement varies substantially between plans. Clients are encouraged to contact their insurance company directly to ask about:

  • Out-of-network mental health benefits

  • Deductibles

  • Reimbursement rates

  • Requirements for submitting superbills

  • Any limits on the number or type of sessions covered

Ward Psychological Corporation cannot guarantee reimbursement from an insurance company.

Payment

Payment is due at the time services are provided unless another arrangement has been made in advance.

Accepted forms of payment and any applicable payment policies will be reviewed during the intake process.

Cancellation Policy

Appointment times are reserved specifically for each client.

Cancellations or rescheduling requests should be made as early as possible. Appointments cancelled with insufficient notice, as described in the practice policies provided during intake, may be subject to the full session fee except when otherwise required by law or when an exception is made by Dr. Ward.

Good Faith Estimates

Under federal law, individuals who are uninsured or who are not using insurance to pay for services are generally entitled to receive a Good Faith Estimate of the expected cost of care.

Ward Psychological Corporation will provide information regarding anticipated fees before services begin.

Because the length and frequency of psychotherapy vary according to individual needs, the total cost of treatment cannot always be predicted precisely in advance.

In-Person and Telehealth Services

Therapy may be available in person at Dr. Ward's Walnut Creek office or by telehealth when clinically appropriate.

Telehealth services are available only when Dr. Ward is legally permitted to provide services based on the client's location at the time of the appointment.
